Haikus

One of the first forms of poetry I began writing were haikus. To find out more about haikus, go to my Haiku Information Page. Here are some I have written. They may seem like one poem because I wrote the first four one after the other.

Brown leaves drifting down
To the cool green autumn grass
Like rumpled strangers

Gusty winds blowing
Catching leaves from passing trees
Dancing rainbow scraps

Was that a raindrop
Church bells merrily ringing
Swishing down in sheets

Green leaf canopy
Calm in the fat drops of rain
Like marbles on stone

The flowers stand still
Bursting from the glass vase
Petals flakes of wind

Rustling rain sounds
In the early morning trees
Leaves heavy with frost

They scamper, chase, leap
Pun among the dried-up leaves
Squirrels of autumn

Clouds are lit with fire
That glows bright white behind them
Soon to be sunset

Dusk will soon be here
Wind chimes tinkle in brisk air
Gathering of wind
